About
Claneo is a Berlin agency founded in 2017 by Magdalena Mues, Matthäus Michalik and Martin Grahl, who had worked together at an earlier search agency and still run the business as managing directors. It reports more than 80 staff, and LinkedIn places it in the 51 to 200 band. The core offer is SEO, international SEO, ecommerce SEO, content marketing and creation, off-page SEO and digital PR, mostly for large German and international brands. Its GEO and LLMO service adds AI visibility analysis and monitoring, content readiness checks, log file analysis for AI crawlers, E-E-A-T audits and workshops, covering ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google's AI features.
The founders have long search careers; Michalik worked at AKM3 and Performics before Claneo and speaks at OMR Festival and DMEXCO. Case studies name clients and give figures, including Henkel Adhesive Technologies, where organic traffic rose 290% across six countries between 2018 and 2021, plus Jungheinrich PROFISHOP, SOLARWATT, MediaMarktSaturn and Doctolib. Clutch shows a 4.9 rating from 5 reviews and a $5,000 minimum project.
What is missing: there is no public pricing, and the agency says it offers no standard packages. The Clutch review count is small for a firm of this size, and no Google or G2 rating was found. The agency lists a 2025 BVDW Search Award, but it could not be confirmed on the organizer's own page. None of the published case studies measures visibility in AI answers, so the GEO service has no public results yet.
